  • I tried it a few times and nothing actually now the rest of essentials isn't working, photo, movie maker etc.

  • Sure hope that works for me.  My make new HP reckoner just downloaded 4 updates last night and today my Windows Live is not responding --getting pale, etc. merely equally you described.  I have Norton 360 so I'm pretty sure it's not a virus or malware.  Certain is frustrating.  I've been falling back on using my Windows XP Dell (more than 7 years old) to practice email today.  Information technology wasn't affected but to be safety I likewise didn't download anything to information technology.  Of course, it is Outlook Limited (non Windows Live) so I guess information technology won't exist affected.

  • I tin confirm what provide said in a higher place: this IS a problem with a recent Windows Update (KB2454826).

This is not related to Norton or any other 3rd political party software. For me, the situation was quite clear. This morning, Windows Update informed me that there were a number of important updates to install. Similar a fool, I install them all rather than looking closely at each one (why, after all these years have I not learned better?). Note that KB2454826 is Recommended not critical (and Lord knows why, since it conspicuously cripples Alive Mail). Immediately subsequently installing the updates and rebooting (of course!), I began to accept problems with Live Mail "Not Responding" equally soon every bit it started. Sometimes it would open, just one click would brand information technology freeze again. I wasted my fourth dimension trying to troubleshoot in the usual ways--deleted junk, cleared the cache, reset headers, etc. Doing and so, of form, required me to contsantly restart the program because I could barely accomplish i task before information technology froze again. Anyhow, terribly frustrated, I got online to search for solutions, all the while suspecting this morn's updates were related, and found this thread. I just uninstalled the KB2454826 Update and (subsequently rebooting, of grade!), eveything is now running fine once once more. Live Mail is operation only every bit it had previously.

Give thanks you, provide, for the info. I hope my annotate is of employ to others who will undoubtedly stumble into the aforementioned frustrating mess.

PS. In Windows Update, you can correct-click and choose to hibernate a particular update, so you won't continue to be pestered to install information technology. Just did that too :)
